Conference Description

This one of a kind conference will feature over 35 national and international distinguished faculty well known for their clinical expertise and teaching abilities in both neonatology and cardiology. This three-day conference will include a clinically focused lecture program, panel discussions, debates and comprehensive case discussions. During the conference we will present the most up-to-date information on topics related to the diagnosis, management, and outcomes of neonates with complex congenital heart disease.

Course Highlights

  • Optional Pre-Conference #1: Review of common neonatal complex congenital heart disease (CHD). An in-depth review of anatomy, “how the blood goes around” and what to expect pre-operatively and following before and after surgery.
  • Updates on the effects of congenital heart defects CHD in the neonate on specific organ system function.
  • Comprehensive review of arrhythmias in the neonate
  • Mechanical circulatory support in the neonate with CHD including important differences from non-CHD neonates.
  • Abstract presentations specific to neonates with CHD including cutting edge neonatal CHD research and quality metrics in the care of neonates with CHD.
  • Debates on controversial issues of neonatal CHD such as nutrition, feeding and “ideal” pre and postoperative environments.
  • Understanding how to use ECHO to answer the questions that are pertinent to nurseries and neonatal ICUs.
  • High tech interaction with live audience response system to ensure objectives are met, and to maximize audience-faculty interaction.
